Recommended Location for Lexington Newt Project

Hello team,
I have a big favor to ask all of you...
Please use the following location for all of your newt roadkill observations:

Lexington Reservoir County Park, CA, US

This will allow us to capture all dead newts found in the San Francisco Bay Area that are not captured by our Lexington projects. They will be recorded in the following project:
https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/pacific-newt-roadkill-other-sf-bay-area-locations

That project was previously set up so that users would have to manually add their newt roadkill observations. Unless people know about this project, the newt roadkill would not be captured. The new collection project will automatically capture observations of all dead newts in the area. However, if people use locations like "Los Gatos, CA" or "Santa Clara County, CA" for the Lexington project, those observations will not be excluded.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

@truthseqr - I don't understand what you're asking us to do. And I only saw this after uploading another 139 dead newts today

@merav, I'm terribly sorrry for the inconvenience. In trying to solve another problem (getting all non-Lexington newt roadkill observations to be automatically added to the "Pacific Newt Roadkill (Other SF Bay Area Locations)" project), I put a restriction on this project. That is, I added a requirement that the Location should be within Lexington Reservoir County Park. I now realize that the county park boundaries don't always enclose Alma Bridge Rd.

I've removed the restriction, and I appologize for the trouble this caused.

No problem. I was just trying to understand what you were asking for. I don't write anything in the location, I use the coordinates from the photos, and it places the observation in its correct place. If I write something in there, it will change the location of that point. Did I miss anything?

@merav, on further investigation, it doesn't seem to matter what text is in the Location field, but if the GPS coordinates are outside of Lexington Reservoir County Park boundaries, as sometimes happens if the GPS device can't get an accurate reading in the mountains, the observation will be placed in the "Pacific Newt Roadkill (Other SF Bay Area Locations)" project instead.

The fix to this problem is to manually move the marker for the newt observation with an incorrect GPS reading onto Alma Bridge Rd. on the map.

Tip: You can enter a specific location for all observations when you upload as follows:

Check the box labeled "Select All"
Click on the location field on the left side of the Upload page.
Enter the location in the "Update Locality" field. I use the location "Lexington Reservoir County Park, CA, USA"
Click the "Update Locations" button.
