ಊಹಿಸಲಾಗದನ್ನು ಊಹಿಸಿ ಎಂದರೆ ಹೇಗೆ ? - Otacilia
ನಾನು ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ಒಂದು ಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿ ಅಲ್ಲೇನಿದೆ ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿದ್ದೆ. ನನ್ನ ಊಹೆಯಂತೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನವರು ಉತ್ತರಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ತರಿಸಿದವರ್ಯಾರೂ ಸರಿ ಉತ್ತರವನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನನ್ನ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ತಪ್ಪಲಿಲ್ಲ. ನೀವೆಂದೇನು , ಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿದಾಗ ಉತ್ತರ ನನಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತು ಆ ಚಿತ್ರದ ಚೌಕಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವಿಯೊಂದು ಅಡಕವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದೂ ಊಹಿಸಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗೆಂದು ಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ನಾನು ಸುಮ್ಮನೆಯೂ ತೆಗೆದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
ಬೆಳುವಾಯಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಜೇಡಗಳ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಜೇಡಗಳ ಅನ್ವೇಷಣೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ , ಪೂರ್ಣಪ್ರಜ್ಞ ಎಂಬ ಪರಿಸರ ಉತ್ಸಾಹಿ ಕಲ್ಮರದ ಖಾಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಏನೋ ಮೆತ್ತಗಿನ ಉಬ್ಬು ಇದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅದನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಿದರೆ ಕಾಲುಗಳೆಂತು ಹೊರಬರುತ್ತದೆ ನೋಡಿ. ಯಾವ ಜೇಡ ಇರಬಹುದು ?
ಮರದ ಖಾಂಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಚಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲ್ಲುಹೂವನ್ನು (Lichen) ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಮಡ್ಡಿದ ಮೆತ್ತಗಿನ ಉಬ್ಬು ಕಂಡಿತು . ಮರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಪಾಚಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲ್ಲುಹೂವುಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಅದನ್ನೇ ಬಳಸಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದ್ದ ಗೂಡು ಇದಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇಂಥಾ ಕಲೆಗಾರ , ಮಾನವನ ಬುದ್ಧಿಶಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಸಮವಾಗಿ ಮಿಲಿಟರಿ ಮಾದರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಟೆಂಟ್ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸುವ ಕುಶಲಕರ್ಮಿ ಯಾವುದು ಎಂಬ ಕುತೂಹಲ ನನ್ನಂತೆ ಇತರರಲ್ಲೂ ಮೂಡಿತು. ನಾನು ಕ್ಯಾಮೆರಾದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಿದ್ಧನಾದೆ, ಜಿತೇಶ್ ಮತ್ತು ಪೂರ್ಣ ಅವರವರ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಕ್ಯಾಮೆರಾದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಡಿಯೋ ದಾಖಲಿಸಲು ಸಿದ್ಧರಾದರು . ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬರು ಆ ಮೆತ್ತನೆಯ ಗೂಡನ್ನು ಮೆಲ್ಲನೆ ಒತ್ತಿದರು. ಕಾಲುಗಳೆಂಟು ಒಂದು ಬದಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಬಂತು. ಇನ್ನೊಮ್ಮೆ ಒತ್ತಿದರು.. ಜನ ಮಾಯಾ !
ಎಂಥಾ ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಗೂಡಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಬಂತೆಂದರೆ , ಜಿತೇಶರ ಸ್ಲೋ ಮೋಶನ್ ವಿಡಿಯೋದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಾ ವೇಗವಾಗಿಯೇ ಇತ್ತು ! ಧಾವಂತವಾಗಿ ಚುಮ್ಮಿದ ಜೇಡ ಮರದ ಬುಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ಯಾವ ಮಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಕುಳಿತಿತ್ತೋ ನಮಗ್ಯಾರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅಪೂರ್ವ ಕಲೆಗಾರ , ಓಟಗಾರ ಜೇಡನನ್ನು ನಾನು ಮಲಗಿಕೊಂಡೇ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಪ್ರಸಂಗವೂ ಒದಗಿ ಬಂತು. ನೋಡ ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಕೆಳಗಿದ್ದ ಜೇಡ ಮೇಲೆಬಂದು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯ ಬಾಗಿಲನ್ನು ಮುಂಗೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎತ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ಒಳಹೊಕ್ಕಿತ್ತು. ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೆಳೆಯ ವಿಪಿನ್ ಏನನ್ನೋ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸುತ್ತದ್ದರು. ಅಯ್ಯೋ ಅಲ್ಲೇನ್ ಮಾಡ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದೀರಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬನ್ನಿ . ನಿಮಗೊಂದು ವಿಸ್ಮಯ ತೋರಿಸುವೆ ಎಂದು ಕರೆದೆ. ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ತಡವಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮತ್ತ ಬಂದರು. ನಾನೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ಏನೋ ವಿಸ್ಮಯ ತೋರಿಸೋಣ ಎಂದಿದ್ದೆ, ಮೊದಲು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಅನ್ವೇಷಣೆಯನ್ನೇ ನೋಡಿಬಿಡುವೆ ಎಂದರು . ಮರದ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಜೇಡದ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ , ಅಯ್ಯೋ... ನಾನು ಇದನ್ನೇ ಆ ಮರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡದ್ದು. ನಾನು ಇದನ್ನೇ ದಾಖಲು ಮಾಡಿರುವೆ ಎಂದರು . ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಒಂದೇ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ , ಒಂದೇ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ , ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಮರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೇ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ದಾಖಲು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೆವು .
ನಾವು ಮಣ್ಣಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಲಗಳನ್ನು ತೋಡಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಚ್ಚುಗೆಯನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಬಲೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಮಾಡಿ ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮಣ್ಣು ಮತ್ತು ಪಾಚಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿ ಜೇಡವು ಒಳ ಕೂತು ಬಾಗಿಲು ಹಾಕುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ . ಅವನ್ನು ಟ್ರ್ಯಾಪ್ ಡೋರ್ ಜೇಡ ಎನ್ನುವರು . ಆದರೆ ಮರದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಅಂಥಾದ್ದೇ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತಿಕೆ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಿ ಹೀಗೆ ಅಡಗುವ ಜೇಡವನ್ನು ನಾವು ಕಂಡಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಜೇಡವು ಹೊರ ಬಂದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅದರ ಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿ ಇದು ಪ್ರುರೋಲಿತಿಡೇ (Phrurolithidae) ಕುಟುಂಬದ ಒಟಸೀಲಿಯಾ ( Otacilia) ಎಂಬ ಜೇಡ ಎಂದು ಗುರುತಿಸಿದೆ. ಈ ಮೊದಲು ಕಳೆದ ವರ್ಷ ಇದೇ ಜಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಜೇಡವನ್ನು ಕಂಡವನಿದ್ದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅದು ಇಂಥಾ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಇಂಜಿನಿಯರ್ ಎಂದು ಊಹಿಸಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
ನಾನು ಜೇಡನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಮಯ ಕಳೆದಂತೆ ಇಂಥಾ ಒಂದೊಂದೇ ವಿಸ್ಮಯಕಾರಿ, ಕುತೂಹಲಕಾರಿ ಅಂಶಗಳು ತೆರೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.
There is Nothing .

This is the answer, i have been receiving for the morning post. Actually answer is correct. But still, there is some thing . Can you see a bulged lichen & moss over tree bark? there lies the answer. During our recent Belwai spider workshop, we were exploring spider diversity from butterfly park . Nature enthusiast , PoornaPrajna called me to check the tree bark with something soft elevated sac, which is been covered by lichen . Tree was full of lichen, moss & this elevated soft park was also coved by the same. Totally camouflaged !
when we pressed eight legs came out & we were sure it was a spider !
Oh we had seen trapdoor spiders making doors with its silk & covering mud & lichen to make well camouflaged. But this was out of our imagination. such an engineering skill & this spider has made its sac look like a military's tent on forest . Jithesh was ready with his slow motion video & we gently pressed its sac. MAD RUSH.. some thing came out But not visible even on slow-motion video ! Spider ran vertically down & was seen on tree root in just a fraction of second . We called vipin who was photographing something on near by tree to witness this mesmerizing spider . He too came near us to show something , which is even that exiting. when we showed this sac , he showed his photos !
even he was photographing & documenting same spider on same time but on different tree. That was a surprise to both of us .
I had documented this spider during our last workshop at butterfly park . But i never imagined this spider makes such a retreat .
This is Otacilia sp from Phrurolithidae family.. One of the rare find with such natural history phenomena. we have just touched tip of iceberg & definitely worth studding this spider even more.

Three roosting flies are missing !
They are cleverly caught by Gnathopalystes species ( Huntsman spider) .I was really surprised to see , How this Huntsman spider caught Three of them. Slightest movement will make these flies allert.Still This spider has managed to catch three of them . We can also see a dragline in between neem leaves. This spider came back to neem leaf, where flies are roosting & again caught the roosting flies !

Smartness of Hamadruas ?

Yesterday I was on my regular walk with my camera. I saw something unusual.
Hamadruas sp, spider was guarding its eggsac, which was over hibiscus leaf !
Seeing Hamadruas with eggsac on leaf is not unusual.
its typical of this genus where spider suspends leaf with eggsac through its silk.
What was unusual here is, Instead of the spider using its own silk to Hang the leaf, Hamadruas had just dropped the leaf over the CYCLOSA web !
poor cyclosa had moved to one corner with its damaged web !
Hamadruas has now got primary support for its eggsac, & its definitely easy to give strength for hanging leaf though its silk.
Though I usually see Hamadruas over leaf hanging, I never saw its process !
This could be one of the processes, how Hamadruas protects its eggsac !
