Went to the Chaparral Wildlife Management Area to look for some bugs. Wind gusts of 20-30 mph and lack of rain for months... Nonetheless, quite a few bugs showed up!

On the bank of a small stream
Since the weather was perfect today, I simply had to go outside. I decided to drive a bit east to visit this awesome park in Canton -- Cherry Creek Park. What a great park!!!
Quercus leaf litter, Artemisia scrub
These are commonly mis-identified as Tarache aprica. That species typically has the entire thorax white or mostly white. The conspicuous dark "bump" (scale tuft) on the rear of the thorax is a giveaway for the present species.
