My Walk Along the Providence River Walk Park

I decided to enjoy this beautiful and sunny day by going to the Providence River Walk Park. I went after 5 PM when the sun was still out but the temperature was a nice 76 degrees Fahrenheit. I entered the park from its northernmost part and began walking down. My first observation was of some berries I saw on a tree. At first, I saw some that were purple, but as I went around the tree, I saw some that were a very bright red color. I wondered what caused some of the berries to be riper than others and vary in color on the same tree. Next, I saw some vascular plants growing along the path I was walking. First I saw blue hydrangeas, then yellow daylilies near a statue, and sages further on. I kept seeing birds flying around and from tree to tree but as I got closer, they would fly away. That was until I was finally able to get close enough to two mockingbirds that seemed to be sticking together and I was able to capture them. Overall, my stroll in the park was 30 minutes and I was able to find to see mostly autotrophs (the plants) and one type of heterotroph (the birds) as I walked along the breezy river path.

My Walk Across Central Park

I entered the park on the West Side of Manhattan and my end goal was to walk to the East side entrance. It was a warm and sunny afternoon and perfect weather to enjoy the park. I was in the park for approximately an hour. Along the way, I saw many breeds of dogs walking alongside their families. My first observation came when I passed some flat and pointy rocks in a small pond that had green algae growing on them. I could see the algae also thriving in the water. Around the midway point of my walk, I saw some pretty pink flowers (flowering plants) growing by the Bethesda fountain. Then I went down a path, that let me get a closer look at the lake nearby. I was able to capture some turtles basking in the sun on a rock above the water. As I continued to make my way to the East side exit, I saw more flowers that belonged in the angiosperms branch such as cherry blossoms and other trees blossoming in the distance. As I got closer I was able to capture the delicate beauty of the cherry blossoms as they swayed gently in the wind. Overall, I really enjoyed my time making observations in the park. Next time I return, maybe I'll stay fixed in one area of the park, in order to get a closer look at some of the organisms that inhabit that area and what ecosystems exist there.
