My main interest is trees, and I have developed an interactive map of trees in my local park here: https://www.treesofbatterseapark.org.

I have also become interested in insects (particularly bees and hover flies), spiders and other organisms.

Here are links to unusual observations which I have made - this includes species which are not uncommon but are under-recorded, species which are unusual in the location where I saw them, or species which were behaving in an unsual way:

Some of my records have links to related videos. Here is a link to records which have related videos:

I have posted a lot of records of moths found in a mothtrap (using a Venture Mercury Blended Lamp (Standard MBF) MBFU 125 watt E27). Some of the photos are not good, but it is necessary to take the photos as quickly as possible as there is a risk that the moths will fly away. I usually post one of each species found on a particular day, but I sometimes post more than one example if they have a different pattern or colouring. These photos are tagged 'mothtrap' and can be accessed here:

All my photos were taken on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone:

  • to end Nov 2018: Galaxy S7
  • Dec 2018 to end June 2022: Galaxy S9
  • July 2022 to present: Galaxy S22
