I'm a retired civil engineer living in Washington DC (in the District). Since retiring in 2013 photography has been my primary hobby. In the beginning I shot at botanical gardens almost exclusively but I'd shoot birds and wildlife on those outings when the opportunity was there. Until 2016 my longest lens was a Nikkor 70-300, so most birds were out of reach. In 2016 I got the Nikkor 200-500 and immediately gained an interest in birds. I'm enjoying the challenge of spotting, photographing and identifying as many species as I can in the Washington DC area and occasionally at travel locations.

My current equipment is a Nikon Z9 along with a Nikkor 100-400 S lens with a 1.4 TC.
