Top of cliffs of Illawarra Escarpment above Macquarie Pass, forest dominated by E. piperita subsp. urceolaris. A search failed to find fallen fruits or buds but the juvenile shoot and quite long adult leaves point to E. cypellocarpa as the only possibility at this location.
Above cliffs of Illawarra Escarpment about 100 m east of Bong Bong Pass.
Along cliff-line of Illawarra Escarpment about 100 m east of Bong Bong Pass.
Kareena Park, Caringbah, a few metres above shore of bay.
Grassland on low ridges, outcrops of granodiorite, scattered old trees of Eucalyptus pauciflora, E. rubida, E. stellulata.
The evident maturity of these trees and their irregular spacing indicate that they are remnants of the original native vegetation. E. botryoides is the most common eucalypt in hind-dune forest in the Illawarra region.
These trees appear likely to be remnants of the original vegetation at this location. Coastal flat at rear of a low wooded dune is a typical habitat of E. botryoides south of Sydney.
The prominent marginal glands on the leaves confirm identification as E. quadrangulata. It is the dominant eucalypt of moist forest on the Illawarra escarpment between about 100 and 300 metres elevation.
