4th day and again no Bombus except for Griseocollis.
RVM3, pre-installation
Dead. Seen in a shallower part of the white river being fed on by tadpoles.
This bird had suffered injury to its left tibia and flank, also loss of tail feathers.
Found on mulch looking ready to dive in and pupate. Originally I was going to adopt and rear it but it seemed so vehemently against containment that I released it after photographing. I have not had the best luck rearing overwinter moths that pupate underground, and I don’t wish to make another casualty trying for something I havent quite nailed down yet.
Interesting to note that I took video of: the slightest provocation caused this individual to thrash violently as if threatening to stab with its horn. It even looked unafraid to bite if given the chance.
