Peixe encontrado no rio Taquari
"Chinstrap Jawfish", Opistognathus sp., somewhat common and known for many years, but never formally described.
This is the usual jawfish seen in Fiji. Some field guides call it Wass's Jawfish, O. wassi, though this is not in fishbase. Possibly a regional color variant of O. variabilis or O. randalli.
Reef FIsh ID shows this as "Mimic Jawfish," Stalix sp. and says known only in Lembeh and Dumaguete
Locals call this lingcod and it looks similar to the lingcod I’m familiar with in California but different coloration and a more truncate, rounded face. Anyone know if this is O. elongatus or something else?
