Today I went on a walk in Jockey Hollow, a national historical park in New Jersey! There is a 3 mile loop that I take my dog on most days, but I had been up since 4:30 am so I was pretty exhausted and only walked half of the loop. The weather was super nice out, it was the mid-70s and mostly sunny and had cooled down a little since the middle of the day. I saw a lot of different green leafy plants- ranging from ground cover to super tall trees. I also tried to pay attention to the difference between mosses, flowering, and conifer plants- something that I do not normally notice. I also saw a bunch of birds and chipmunks but I wasn't able to get any good photos of them. It was really nice to take time and actually pay attention to the nature on this trail because I am usually preoccupied with other things. Now when I go on walks on this trail I will definitely be more tuned into the nature around me.
I believe this is some type of mushroom. I saw this near a small creek in the woods.
This appears to a lichen that is growing along side moss on the bark of a tree.
I saw this plant with white flowers growing alongside what appeared to be nonflowering fern type plants
This fern was found within a foot or two of others of the same species, but not really close enough to get in the same frame
This is some type of climbing plant/ vine that is attached to a relatively tall tree.
It is basically impossible to make out in this photo but I found small brown fish that were very well camouflaged in a small creek
