Spring mouse

This little mouse had just left its hollow under the roots of a large European beech.

I didn't want to disturb it unnecessarily with a flash light, and took a quick snapshot from far. A lilttle later, it was still sitting there, examining the ground around it. - Is there anyone around who may help with another ID? Thanks!

Wild bees

In towns, bees are important indicators when it comes to recognizing where to start best to protect and support what's ever left of nature. Furthermore, they play an important role for the survival of plants: Without them and other pollinators, grass, herbs, flowers, shrubs and trees couldn't have fruit or multiply. Trying to take pictures of insects, I started to realize how many different wild bees there still are in this place. Anyhow, it is difficult to identify them, if you are not a specialist. The pictures, that allow me to have a closer look at what I saw, your suggestions and your support are an important first step. Thank you for all your encouragement and suggestions!

Tree pipit is back

This post is to remember that the tree pipit (anthus trivialis,) which figures now among the rare birds in this area, has returned.
