Species that a hypothetical European wilderness area could contain. Honestly, I think every region in the world should have at least one Kruger/Limpopo Park-style wilderness area with all the native megafauna that is subject to as little human interference as possible.

Exact species composition would of course depend on the location of the park, f.e. musk ox and barbary macaque would never occur together within one area.

Extinct animals within range with no obvious extant ecological proxy: Cave Bear, Giant Deer, Woolly Mammoth, Woolly Rhinoceros, Straight-tusked Elephant, Merck's Rhinoceros, Steppe Rhinoceros. The elephants and rhinos might have living relatives that could serve as a passable ecological proxy.
